What is Seder?

The Seder is a Jewish ritual meal used to celebrate the Passover holiday. This service commemorates the freedom that the Israelites received after 400 years of slavery in Egypt.

What is a Christian Seder at Harvest Ridge?

One of Jesus' last acts on Earth was celebrating the Passover with his disciples. This service is designed to help us encounter Jesus, the ultimate Passover lamb, as we prepare to celebrate Easter.

This is also an opportunity to experience the elements of a Jewish tradition in which our Christian faith is deeply rooted.

What can you expect when you attend?

When you arrive, you will receive a Seder plate holding the ceremonial items of Passover. There are bitter herbs, a roasted egg, a sweet apple mixture, lettuce, and a bone. Tables will be set with a washing bowl, Matzo bread, and juice.

When the service begins, leaders will walk you through the story of Passover. You will be invited to take in each ingredient's sights, smells, and tastes as you listen to the story of God's people. The goal is to see, hear, and feel the truth of God’s love.

Who is this service for?

All are welcome to come and experience this centuries-old tradition. Children will be invited to participate in the telling of the story.
