1 Corinthians: Love > Knowledge

SERMON NOTES for 02.20.2022 

1 Corinthians 8:1-13— “Love > Knowledge” 

Main Point: Love must be the driving factor behind all our decisions and lifestyle choices. 

Presupposition #1 - Knowledge should be the basis of our decision making. 

Paul’s Response: Love is greater than knowledge. 

Presupposition #2 - Knowledge gives us the right to do things. 

Paul’s Response: Knowledge does not give you the right to do things that are unloving.  

Presupposition #3 - Knowledge gives me significance. 

Paul’s Response: Christ gives me significance.  

Reflection Questions 

1) What was your last big decision? What were the primary factors that motivated your decision? 

2) Do you have any beliefs, practices or spiritual gifts that you think make you a superior Christian?

3) What does 1 Corinthians 8 have to say about one’s status before God and others? What actually indicates mature faith?
