September 11, 2022 Speaker: Pastor Jeff Flanagan Series: Journeying Together

Passage: John 13:31-34, 1 John 3:16-18

Sermon Outline for September 11, 2022
John 13:31-34; 1 John 3:16-18

Leviticus 19:18,
18 You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons
of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself:
I am the LORD.
Leviticus 19:34,
You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native
among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were
strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
John 13:1,
It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour
had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having
loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
Conclusion: Loving Others Better:
(1) Seek to grow in our care and concern for others
(2) Take steps to be present in others’ lives
(3) Commit yourself to action
Sending Word: Galatians 5:13-14, You, my brothers and sisters,
were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one
another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law
is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
