Philippians 1:3-11

Introduction
George Mueller quote: “Now, if I, a poor man, simply by prayer and faith, obtained, without asking any individual, the means for establishing and carrying on an Orphan-House: there would be something which, with the Lord's blessing, might be instrumental in strengthening the faith of the children of God besides being a testimony to the consciences of the unconverted, of the reality of the things of God.” ... “The first
and primary object of the work was, (and still is) that God might be magnified...”

Philippians 1:3-11
Paul’s emotion in prayer – “joy” (v. 4)
Reason: “their partnership in the Gospel” (v. 5)
The content of Paul’s prayers – “their love may abound in knowledge” (v. 9)
Reason: “... to the glory and praise of God” (vv. 10-11)

Application:
1). Pray for God’s kingdom and purposes
2). Pray for temporal things with an eternal mindset
3). Pray with your relationship to God being the most important thing you seek and your greatest joy
