2 Corinthians 4:7-15

Three Truths and Their Purpose
#1 – As Christians, we carry the treasure of God in fragile bodies
SO THAT God’s power is demonstrated through us (vv. 7-9)
#2 – As Christians, we reflect the death of Christ in our actions
SO THAT others may find the life of Christ (vv. 10-12)
#3 – As Christians, we proclaim the truth of God with our words
SO THAT God may be glorified (vv. 13-15)
Sending Word: 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for
you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more
gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for
Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in
difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Questions for Discussion:
• What are the external “pressures” of your life? How does the Gospel speak to these
pressures and provide power so that you can endure?
• For Paul, the death of Christ was demonstrated in the persecution and suffering he
faced. Yet Christ’s death was also a sacrifice and giving up of privileges for the
good of other people. How are ways you can reflect the “death of Christ” in your
life? What are some specific things you could begin implementing that might
demonstrate the life of God within you?
• The culture we live in says religious beliefs are subjective, personal, and should be
kept to oneself. Paul says speaking the truth of Christ is for the good of others.
Which of these mindsets has most influenced how you think and feel as a Christian?
What would the evidence of your life reveal?
