2 CORINTHIANS: An Eternal Glory
2 Corinthians 4:16 – 5:10

THE FUTURE RESURRECTION OF THE BODY:
1 Corinthians 15,
12But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no
resurrection of the dead? ...
16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is
futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost ...
42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable ...
51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an
eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
Romans 6:4-5,
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the
dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection
like his.
Romans 8:22-23, We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the
present time. 23 Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait
eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies.
Philippians 3:10-11,
I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like
him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.
Philippians 3:20-21,
But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who, by the
power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like
his glorious body.
1 Peter 1:3-5,
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living
hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4

and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or
fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of
the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-16,
13Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death.... For we believe that
Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in
him....16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and
with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
