Introduction:
Jeremiah 13:9, “This is what the Lord says: ... ‘I will ruin the pride of Judah and the
great pride of Jerusalem.”

• The king looks down and around (vv. 28-30), leading to pride and insanity (vv. 30-
33)
• The king looks up to God (v. 34), leading to humility and the truth of God (vv. 34-
35)
• God humbles the proud and exalts the humble (vv. 36-37)
Luke 1:31-33, And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you
shall call his name Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most
High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will
reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
Luke 1:50-52,
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
Luke 13:18, Then Jesus asked, “What is the kingdom of God like? What shall I
compare it to? 19 It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden.
It grew and became a tree, and the birds perched in its branches.
