Advent: Waiting Together with Moses

Preacher: Pastor Tiffany Flanagan Series: Advent: Waiting Together

SERMON NOTES for 12.05.2021

Advent #2 | Waiting Together: With Moses

Main Point: As we wait for Christ to come again and make all things right, we can find  encouragement and hope from Moses’s time of waiting.

Three examples of what Moses did while waiting:

  1. Moses INSTRUCTED the people. (Numbers 15:1-4)
  2. Moses INTERCEDED for the people. (Numbers 16:42-48)
  3. Moses followed God IMPERFECTLY. (Numbers 20:12)

Encouragement from Moses’s time of waiting:

  1. God is present with us while we wait.
  2. In the waiting, we are to continue to follow God and be a blessing in the world.
  3. We, like Moses, need an intercessor. We need Jesus.

Reflection Questions:

Moses waited and labored to bring Israel into the promised land, but he never received that prize.

1) What does this reveal about value of having a place on this earth?

2) What does a longing for the “promised land” reveal about one’s heart?

3) How might our longings on this earth point us to Jesus and what we are truly waiting for?
